Green Mountain Support Services has been fortunate to have a dedicated and compassionate board of directors over the years. Patty Grassette is one of those directors. June 11th was Patty’s last board meeting. She has served as a member for 20 years. The longest serving board member in GMSS’ 30 year history. She stated that it is time for new people to join the board.
Over the years she has been a tireless voice for the people for whom we provide services, and she has been a consistent source of innovative and compassionate ideas; many of which have been quickly implemented .
Lisa Grassette, Patty’s sister and previous board president noted at the board meeting on June 11th that it was Patty who actually came up with the agency’s new name. The two names that made the final list were Sterling Area Supported Services and Green Mountain Independent Living. It was Patty who proposed combining the two names. That is how Green Mountain Support Services as a name was born.
Patty has also been a strong advocate to increase communication across all parts of the agency. Our Shared Living Providers and our Direct Support Professionals need to have solid access to information and a way to provide feedback within the agency. This newsletter is one part of Patty’s board legacy. She along with other self advocates and guardians initially created the GMSS Reporter.
Thank you Patty for your tireless work and dedication to GMSS!
